Seventh Floor, Again

It’s 11:42 PM. You’re the night nurse at St. Aldwyn’s, a small rural hospital. Check your rooms, mark them off, and take the elevator when you’re done.

Every time you ride it, the doors open on a floor you’ve already been to. A room number is different. A door that was closed is open. A bed that was empty isn’t. Your coworkers insist the hospital has only six floors.

Keep your own notes. Nothing else will tell you the truth.
